Grounded in long-term fieldwork, my work offers an ethnographic window into how Islam is practiced, debated, and (re)imagined close to the ground. I have written about Muslim dreams, charitable practices, and God-imaginaries. By listening closely to Muslims from all walks of life, I trace Islamic practices, ethics, and forms of everyday theologizing. I am also interested in how “Islam” is (re)configured in Western political discourse, particularly in the wake of the so-called European “migrant crisis” and, even more so, since October 2023.
